NEODESHA The Humboldt volleyball team went to Neodesha to take on the Lady Blue Streaks and Oswego Tuesday. The Lady Cubs came away with two wins to boost their overall record to 5-3.
Tonight we really played our game and eliminated a lot of mistakes, head coach Terry Meadows said. We served aggressively and passed the ball well. Im very pleased with our level all night.
Humboldt opened things with a 25-16, 25-20 sweep of host Neodesha.
Aricah McCall led the way offensively, with four aces and four kills. Camrie Farran had five kills and Madison Gean recorded four kills.
Alayna Johnson had 16 assists and Emma Johnson had eight digs to go along with two blocks from McCall.
The Lady Cubs followed that up with a sweep of Oswego (25-18, 25-17).
McCall was dominant from the serving line, recording seven aces and just one error. McCall was also strong at the net, recording 10 kills with Kaylie Johnson just behind her with seven.
Gean and Farran had five and four kills, respectively.
Alayna Johnson had 28 assists and Emma Johnson had 10 digs.
On the junior varsity end, the Lady Cubs fell in three sets to Oswego (24-26, 25-10, 11-15) before bouncing back to sweep Neodesha 25-17 and 25-21.
Next Tuesday, the Lady Cubs will head to Cherryvale to take on the Lady Chargers and Baxter Springs.
