HUMBOLDT Junior forward Jada Dangerfield scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Humboldt Lady Cubs to a 44-15 rout over county rival Marmaton Valley on Tuesday night.
Dangerfield scored 14 points in the first half as the Lady Cubs raced to a 31-10 lead at the break.
Humboldt bore little resemblance to the squad they were in 2019, establishing themselves with a physical brand of basketball.
We worked on being more active and being more physical over Christmas break. We really want to get in peoples faces. When you only have nine players you have to come up with something, Humboldt head coach Aubrey Jones said.
It was a big step in the right direction for the Lady Cubs.
Senior Winter Snyder chipped in 10 points and was a steady force on the boards. Her bucket with 4:50 remaining in the contest gaave Humboldt a 42-14 lead.
Jessica Myers barely missed out on getting into double-digits with 8 points.
Humboldts Emma Johnson, Kirstyn Murrow and Kady Hart, scored two points apiece in the victory.
Our guards really took care of the ball tonight. Everyone passed the ball around and really looked for one another on the inside, Jones said. Our freshmen and sophomores still look like young players at times, but they were thrown into the fire early on. You can definitely see some major growth from when the season started.
Bailey Griffith and Alyson Ard led the Lady Wildcats with 6 points apiece, while Kaylee Becker chipped in 2 points.
