HUMBOLDT — Humboldt High’s volleyball team picked up a pair of wins on Senior Night, wrapping up the home schedule in style Tuesday. THE LADY CUBS also picked up a pair of wins in junior varsity action, downing Caney Valley, 25-21, 25-13, and Neodesha, 25-23, 25-21.
The Lady Cubs rolled past visiting Caney Valley, 25-11, 25-14, and Neodesha, 25-20, 25-23.
“We had a good outing,” head coach Stephanie Splechter said. “The girls stayed focused and got two good league wins on Senior night.”
A familiar cast of characters led the way.
Sheri Middleton pounded down nine kills to go with three blocks. Breanna Kline and Kayle Riebel added four and three kills, respectively. Annalise Whitcomb had nine assists, Anna Setter, six. Kayle Riebel also had 11 points.
Middleton also had nine kills with three blocks to lead the way against Neodesha. Delaney Umholtz added three kills and Kline, two. Setter had eight assists, Whitcomb six. Riebel had 14 points, Umholtz seven.
“We had good and bad moments during both matches,” JV coach Cara Thomas said. “I was proud of the team for pulling through and winning both matches in two sets.”
Makaylah McCall had three kills against Caney Valley, followed by Haylie Yost and Kasey Beeman with one apiece. Megan Hudlin had five assists and an ace. McCall also had three aces. Tilar Wells had two aces and a dig. Bri Ames also had an ace.
Against Neodesha, Wells had two kills, McCall one. Beeman and Ames both had a pair of aces, while Yost, Wells and Kira McReynolds had one apiece.
Humboldt heads to Eureka Tuesday for a triangular meet with Cherryvale.
