The Humboldt softball team has outclassed everyone who has stepped on a softball field with them and Thursday home match-up versus Fredonia was no different.
The undefeated, 8-0 Lady Cubs thrashed Fredonia 15-0 and 18-3 in four and three-inning wins.
Freshman Brooklyn Ellis got the start and the shutout win in game one, allowing just two hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
The Lady Cubs were without one of their best hitters and starting catcher in Winter Snyder, but the offense had zero trouble getting going led by two hits from Ellis, Maggie Johnson, Isabelle Murrow, Aricah McCall and Morgan Mauk. Kirstyn Murrow also hit a triple and McCall stole four bases.
The Lady Cubs led by just three after the second inning but an 11 run-third inning nearly put the ball game away right then and there.
Fredonia showed they had a bit of fight in them in game two. They managed to match Humboldts three-run output in the first inning with three runs of their own to tie things up. The Lady Cubs scored two in the top of the second and then really went to town in the third, scoring 13 and ending the game on a three-inning run-rule.
Sadie Houk got her first varsity start of the season allowing three runs on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
Kirstyn Murrow also had a first in the game after putting a ball over the left field fence for her first home run. She also turned in a triple and a single.
Aricah McCall had three hits along with Sydney Barker. Mauk, Isabelle Murrow, and Houk each had two hits each.
Humboldt will try to keep their dominance rolling when they host Eureka on Monday.
