DODGE CITY — Allen County Community College’s Red Devil women continue to be mired in a losing streak.
The Red Devils again came close but no victory came on the road at Dodge City Community College Monday. They lost 64-58 to the Lady Conquistadors.
“We put teams on the free-throw line because we won’t move our feet on defense,” said Marcus Hicks, ACCC head coach. Dodge City cashed in on 24 of 33 free throw attempts in the game.
“The other problem we have failed to correct is boxing out.”
Dodge City outrebounded Allen County 41 to 31 and scored 15 points off of 12 offensive rebounds. Also the Lady Conquistadors got 19 points off the Red Devils’ 16 turnovers.
“You can’t win games making these mistakes,” Hicks said.
Dodge City had a 32-25 halftime lead. Allen County outscored Dodge City in the second half but by just one point, 33-32.
Danielle Best nailed five three-point field goals to lead Allen County with 17 points. Queona Walker added 13 points and had five assists.
Jazmyne Johnson pulled down 10 rebounds for ACCC. The Red Devils shot 34 percent, 21 of 61, from the field and hit 9 of 10 free throws.
