High School Sports:
KSHSAA announced its sites for the 2018-19 winter state championships on Friday.
Some sites, like the state wrestling locations for all classes, remain unchanged. 4A will still compete in Salina and 3-1A will be in Hays. 6A and 5A will still compete in Hartman Arena in Park City. State wrestling will be held on Feb. 22-23.
BUT ITS basketball that received the biggest shift due partly to the fact that the 2018 school year starts the first season of consolidated 1A and 4A.
The previous eight state basketball tournaments have been whittled down to six. 4A will be played in Salina while 3A remains in Hutchinson. 2A moves from playing in Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan to playing in Hays and now all of 1A will compete in Dodge City.
6A will be in Wichita and 5A will play in Emporia. For the first time since 1978, there will not be a state basketball tournament held in Topeka. The basketball state tournaments will be held on March 6-9.
KSHSAA also announced that state Debate for 4A-1A will be held at Fort Scott High School on January 11-12.
