Yates Center teams continued their late-season success on Friday when both teams hosted and beat Erie.
The boys move to 15-2 and the girls are 13-4. Both teams are riding six-game win streaks.
The Lady Cats won 52-42 but started off slow, trailing 10-7 after the first quarter. Yates Center picked up steam after that, outscoring Erie 16-5 in the second quarter to take a 23-15 lead into the half. Coming out of the half, Yates Center outscored the Lady Devils by a point in both the third and fourth quarters to get the 10-point win.
Junior Taylor Jacobs had 17 points while sophomore Jaylee Catron had 13. Allie Pringle and Madi Collins each scored nine.
The boys roared ahead for an 80-57 win.
Yates Center led only by 19-18 after the first quarter but a 25-12 second quarter gave the Wildcats a 14-point halftime lead. Yates Center came out of the half with a 22-11 third quarter to extend their lead to 25. Erie cut the lead to 23 by the end of the game with a 16-14 fourth quarter.
Junior Aaron King continued to be a force, leading the way with 36 points — 30 of which were scored in the first half. No other Wildcat scored in double-figures but senior Nathan Jones came the closest with nine points.
The Wildcats will host Pleasanton on Tuesday.
