The future continues to only look brighter for a pair of area schools in the Three Rivers League.

Yates Center and Crest each saw a sophomore earn First Team All-League honors this season.

For Crest, Hayden Hermreck earned the recognition by averaging 17.6 points a night and proved himself to be one of the top tough-shot makers in the area. Hermreck became a known commodity very quickly because of a blistering hot start to the season and was every defense’s top priority for the remainder of the year.

Yates Center’s Aaron King was about as much of a lock for first team as anyone can be.

The Wildcats’ Swiss Army knife took the Three Rivers League by storm with his ability to beat teams from either the inside or out.

King averaged 21.9 points per game this season and hit 43 percent of his 93 three-point attempts while leading the Wildcats to a 19-4 record in their first season in the Three Rivers.

King also led his team in both rebounding and steals while finishing second in assists and third in blocks.

The Wildcats also placed players on the second team and honorable mention list.

Junior Jordan Smith earned a spot on the second team by scoring 8.7 points per game and shooting 41 percent from three-point land.

Smith was second on the team in steals with nearly two a game and third in assists.

Josh King, a junior and Aaron’s older brother, provided the inside presence for Yates Center while his brother and Smith did most of their damage from outside. That earned him an honorable mention nod. King averaged 5.7 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.

Marmaton Valley junior point guard Justice Pugh also was an honorable mention selection as he led Marmaton Valley in scoring.
