FORT SCOTT — Playing at home didn’t hurt Uniontown High’s Eagles. For the third time in four years, Uniontown is sending a complete team to the Kansas Class 3-2-1A State Girls’ Golf Tournament.

The Eagles claimed third place at Monday’s Class 3-2-1A Regional Tournament on Fort Scott’s Woodland Hills Golf Course. It’s Uniontown’s home golf course for the 2011 season.

Sabrena McAnulty qualified for her fourth straight state golf tournament. McAnulty will be joined by Uniontown’s two other seniors — Emily Simpson and Veronica Harrison and sophomore Jordan Mason.

McAnulty captured the ninth-place individual medal with a 109 for the 18-hole event. Going back to the state tournament for a second consecutive time is Yates Center High’s Emily Baker. Baker was the eighth-place medalist with a 111.

Caney Valley was regional champion with 431. Fredonia was second with 432 and Uniontown had a 484 team total.

From each regional, the top three teams plus the next five lowest individual scores — not members of the three qualifying teams — advance to the state tournament.

The state tournament is Monday at Emporia Municipal Golf Course. Tee time is 9 a.m.

Simpson carded a 122 and Harrison finished with a 128. Both UHS seniors were members of Eagle girls’ golf teams playing at the state tournament in 2008 and 2009. Mason is a newcomer to golf and ended up with a 125.

Yates Center took sixth as a team with a 571. Baker, a junior, led the Wildcats. Sophomore Becky Wendland shot a 142 followed by junior Bailee Stuber with a 145 and freshman Marlana Buchanan with a 173.
