FORT SCOTT — Iola’s junior varsity girls tennis team had its first match of the season at Fort Scott Monday afternoon.
In singles, freshman Erin Klubek lost to Chania Stewart of Pittsburg, 6-0, Brianna William of Fort Scott, 6-3, and Emily Wilson of Independence, 6-1.
“I was very pleased with how she played,” coach Jenn Bycroft said. “Especially her second and third matches of the day. She has a lot of potential.”
Iola sent out two doubles teams. Emily Klubek and Tori Smith lost to Pittsburg, 6-0, Fort Scott, 6-2, and Independence, 6-2.
Tori Danford and Judy Branstetter also played in three doubles matches for Iola. They lost to Pittsburg, 6-0, Fort Scott, 6-2, and Independence, 6-0.
The JV squad’s next match is Sept. 9 at Parsons.
