Iola softball struggled to get their bats going at Anderson County on Tuesday leading to a sweep at the hands of the host Bulldogs.
The Fillies lost game one 6-1 and game two 3-0.
The losses move them to 1-5 so far this season.
Anderson Countys pitching was nearly unstoppable in game one.
Four perfect innings were busted by a single from senior Mia Aronson with an out in the fifth.
A sacrifice by Kendra Sprague and an error by the Bulldog defense allowed Aronson to get all the way home for Iolas lone run of the night.
Freshman pitcher Reece Murry was solid throughout, minus two three-run innings in the second and sixth innings.
In her six innings, she allowed six runs (five earned) on five hits and two walks and 13 strikeouts.
Game two was much the same offensively, though Iola did end up on base with four total hits and four walks.
Despite those extra opportunities, they were unable to get anything going in the score column.
Anderson County scored a run in the first and then one in the third and fourth to round out their offensive output.
Senior Madisyn Holloway had two hits in the loss along with a hit for Aronson and sophomore Kailey Schinstock.
Murry got the start again, allowing a much improved three runs on two hits and four walks with three strikeouts.
The Fillies will return home next week to face Osawatomie on Tuesday before facing Independence on Thursday.
