The Iola Soccer Club will have tryouts Saturday and Sunday for youngsters ages 9-14 to play in games this fall.
The club is forming three age groups: 10-and-under, 12-and-under and 14-and-under.
Tryouts will be at the north soccer field at Allen Community College.
Hopefuls are asked to make it both days if possible, and to wear shin guards and cleats.
The 10-and-under tryouts will run from 4 to 5:45 p.m. both days. Those in the 12- and 14-and-under groups will try out from 6 to 8 o’clock. The cutoff date to determine ages is Aug. 1, 2014.
The club will play in a league based out of Paola. Games will be on Saturdays and will feature road trips to Paola, Wellsville and LaCygne.
The league schedule runs through September and October.
For more information, contact Iola Soccer Club President Brek Ulrich at (620) 228-0578 (cell), 365-2781 (work) or via email at [email protected].
“We hope to see a big turnout,” Ulrich said. “We want kids to come and enjoy a different level of soccer.”
The soccer club also sells produce and baked goods at the Allen County Farmers Market each Thursday in Iola.
Proceeds will go to pay league fees and other costs.
