Iola JV wrestlers earn medals at Indy

INDEPENDENCE — Iola High’s Jordan Long earned the first-place medal in the 160-pound weight class at Saturday’s Independence High’s JV Wrestling Tournament.

Long dropped a 9-4 decision to Ryan McKinzie of Labette County. He bounced back to pin Aaron McCoach of Labette County then won by an injury default over Sinjia McGuire of Arkansas City.

Long took first via a tiebreaker.

Travis Rieske claimed a third-place medal in a five-man weight bracket. Rieske pinned Matt Killion of Chanute and won by injury default over Grant Rubin of Fredonia.

Rieske lost by pins to William McGhee of Arkansas City and to Dalton Wiley of Labette County.

Raymond Branstetter was fourth in his weight bracket and received a medal. He lost 13-2 to Lane Britton of Labette County, was pinned by Derek Huschka of Cherryvale and lost 6-0 to Jordan Queen of Caney Valley.
