Iola High’s junior varsity golfers dominated the field at the IHS Buck Quincy Invitational Monday.

Because of varsity league scheduling commitments, the Buck Quincy Invitational switched to a junior varsity tournament this year. Iola High also hosted a Southeast Kansas League designated tournament earlier in the season.

The Mustang JV captured the team title in the 18-hole tournament by a resounding 37 strokes. Iola’s winning team total was 350 with Burlington in a distant second at 387.

Independence placed third at 388 followed by Columbus at 392, Coffeyville at 393, Parsons at 430, Labette County at 431 and Girard at 457.

Humboldt High entered three golfers. The Cubs’ Robbie Sellman won the individual title with an 84 (40-44) on the Allen County Country Club golf course.

Isaiah Grover paced the Mustangs with rounds of 43 and 42 for an 85. He and Independence’s Caleb Vowell both had 85 but Grover finished third.

The Mustangs filled five of the top 10 individual spots.

Adam Peterson finished sixth with an 87 (44-43). One stroke back at 88 was Weston Hines with rounds of 46 and 42.

Jarrett Mosbrucker took the ninth-place medal with a 90 (45-45). Matt Jacobs placed 10th at 93 (48-45).

Humboldt’s Tye Taylor shot a 105 (56-49) and Chance Menzie finished with a 129 (61-68).
