CHANUTE — Iola American Legion Post 15’s Indians came up short — by one run — in Sunday’s Kansas American Legion AA Zone 4 tournament championship game.
Baxter Springs edged out Iola 4-3 in the title game. Baxter Springs is in Marysville for the Kansas American Legion AA State Tournament today through Sunday.
The Indians won their first game of the zone tournament Friday, beating Sedan 12-7. On Saturday in the winners bracket it was No. 2 seeded Iola against No. 1 seeded Baxter Springs. Baxter Springs won 8-0.
That dropped Iola into the losers bracket final early Sunday afternoon. The Indians beat Wellington 7-5 to get to the title game.
No details were given to the Register on Iola’s zone games.
