Iola Indians have strong road trip

Iola American Legion Post 15’s Indians went on the road this weekend and won three of four games.
Iola was in Louisburg Saturday and dropped a 7-6 decision in the opener. Ethan Ericson took the loss on the mound as he allowed eight hits, walked four and struck out five.
Jerrik Sigg and Mark Bristol each had a single and a double. Levi Ashmore and Ryan Latta had two singles each.
The Indians bounced back for a 13-5 win. Bristol limited Louisburg to four hits, walked four and struck out six.
Clint Heffern had a single and a double and Bristol hit two singles. R. Latta and Sigg each had a triple. Cory Taylor and Chris Heffern had a double apiece. Mason Coons and Tyler Clubine had a single each.
Iola went to Eudora Sunday and swept the doubleheader.
Sigg worked a complete game as the Indians defeated Eudora 2-1 in the first game. Sigg allowed five hits and three walks plus racked up 12 strikeouts.
Ashmore had two singles. R. Latta and Chris Heffern each had a single. Iola scored twice in the sixth inning.
Taylor threw a two-hitter for the Indians in the second game, winning 14-6. He walked six and struck out three.
Bristol had two singles and drove in four runs. Coons had three base hits and Ch. Heffern had two singles. Ericson doubled.
Hitting  a single each were Ashmore, R. Latta, Sigg, Taylor and Clint Heffern.
Iola plays Mound City at home Tuesday.
