Iola golf wins Buck Quincy Invitational

Iola High’s golf team won its home tournament, the Buck Quincy Invitational, Monday.
The team started at Cedarbrook Golf Course for the front nine holes, then moved to Allen County Country Club for the final nine.
Iola’s Kaden Macha took first with a 77. Matt Jacobs shot an 81 for third. Shane Walden shot an 82 and took fifth, while Adam Peterson finished with an 83 and in sixth place. Drake Dieker shot an 89 and took ninth. Drake Sell finished in 11th with a 94.
Central Heights’ Matt Percy — son of IHS baseball coach Mark Percy — took second with a score of 78. Humboldt’s Robbie Sellman finished in eighth with an 85, Connor Rosenberry shot a 140 for 29th and Matt Lea finished two spots behind in 31st with a 154.
Iola’s junior varsity team competes May 4 at Independence. The varsity team has three more tournaments until its regional May 18 at Osawatomie.
