OSAWATOMIE — Brett Willis is on quite a roll.
The Iola High junior continued his torrid performance on the track and in the field, winning the 100- and 200-meter dashes and taking second in both the long jump and triple jump at Thursday’s Francis Wendt Invitational, hosted by Osawatomie High School.
He set personal bests in both the 200 and triple jump.
“He is peaking at the right time,” head coach Dana Daugharthy said.
Meanwhile, Iola’s Jack Adams was a two-time winner, prevailing in both the 1600- and 3200-meter runs, while Riley Jay picked up his first solo track win of his career in taking first in the 800-meter run.
“Our distance crew ran really well,” Daugharthy said. “It was a big accomplishment for Riley.”
Kobe Lord took second in the 200 and third in the 100, while Evan Casner placed second in the 110-meter hurdles.
On the girls side, Iola’s Callie Murcko took second in the pole vault, while Iola’s 4×800- and 4×100-meter relay teams took second and third, respectively.
