Iola and Humboldt middle school track open their seasons

Iola and Humboldt middle school’s track seasons are in gear. Humboldt opened things with their home meet at the end of March while Iola traveled to Anderson County for a quad with Prairie View, Burlington and the host Bulldogs. 

Piper Aronson took first and second in the seventh-grade girls’ 200- and 100-meter dashes with times of 31.95 and 15 seconds. 

Keira Fawson placed second in the 800 (3:28.04) and third in the 1600 (7:10.69). Abigail Meiwes took second in the 1600 (7:06.94).

In the 100-meter hurdles, seventh-grade Ponies Emily Atwell took second (21.97) and Rio Lohman took third (22.36). 

The IMS girls 4×100 relay took second (1:03.44) as did the 4×400 relay (5:27.89).

Heidi Folk took second in the long jump with a distance of 11’4.5”. 

Aysha Houk started things off for the eighth-grade girls finishing second in the 200 (30.88) and third in the 100 (14.48). 

Caiden Cloud finished second in the 100-meter hurdles (19.84) and the 4×100 (58.07) relay team took second while the 4×200 (2:09.61) and the 4×400 (5:19.92) each took third. 

Celina Caron won the high jump with a final leap of 4 feet and Micayla Moen took second in the shot put (25’10”). 

The seventh-grade boys made a mark in the distance races. 

Korbin Cloud (6:05.84) and Will Jay (6:26.41) took first and second in the 1600 while Japheth Rutoh took third (2:52.47) in the 800. Rutoh also won the high jump with a final height of 4’02”. 

Brian Macias took second in the 100-meter hurdles (19.05) while the 4×200 relay team took second (2:17.28). 

Kolton Greathouse finished second in the shot put and the discus with distances of 28’02” and 71’06”. 

Carter Hutton started things off for the eighth-grade boys with a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash (12.93) and in the 400 (1:01.58). 

Kaster Trabuc placed second in the 800 (2:35.15) and won the 3200 with a time of 11:59.36.

Jake Skahan took first in the 1600 (5:39.69).
