Iola A loses two

Iola American Legion Post 15’s A Indians have lost  six of their last seven games.
On Wednesday Iola was at Baldwin and dropped 12-11 and 13-3 decisions.
The A Indians came from behind twice to tie the opener at Baldwin. It was 7-7 after 2 innings. Baldwin went up 9-7 in the bottom of the third.
Iola knotted the score at 9-9 with two runs in the fourth. The Indians added two runs in the fifth to lead 11-9. Baldwin plated a run in the sixth and two in the seventh to win 12-11.
Trent Latta, Bryce Misenhelter and Aaron Barclay pitched for Iola. They gave up seven hits and issued six walks.
Tyler Clubine cranked out two singles and a double for Iola. Eric Heffern hit three singles. Barclay and Derrick Weir each had two singles. Garrett Catron and Drew Faulhaber had a base hit apiece.
In the second game, Baldwin scored nine runs in the first inning on its way to a run-rule win in four innings. Thealvin Minor, Trey Wilson and Isaiah Grover pitched for Iola, allowing three hits and issuing 12 walks.
Latta hit two singles. Weir, Wilson and Minor each had a single.
Last Saturday, the Iola A team went 1-2 in a tournament at Burlington. The Indians lost 8-0 to Ottawa, 10-1 to Wellsvile then beat Burlington 10-7.
Against Ottawa, Barclay had the only hit, a single. Misenhelter and Latta pitched. Barclay and Wilson pitched against Wellsville. Barclay and Weir each had a single in the game.
In the win over Burlington, Minor, Shae Beasley, Alex Bauer and Grover each took a turn on the mound for the Indians. They combined to hold Burlington to one hit but issued 11 walks.
Latta had a single and a double. Catron and Misenhelter each had two singles. Barclay, Clubine and Heffern each hit a single.
Iola A (8-9) is at Humboldt tonight.
