OTTAWA — The Post 15 Indians enter a five-day break from playing games. The time off comes at a much-needed point of the season, particularly after they struggled mightily in 10-0 and 13-5 losses in Ottawa Wednesday.
The Indians had more errors than hits in the doubleheader, and opened the evening by being no-hit by the talented Ottawa squad in a 10-0, four-inning defeat.
Iola committed three errors behind starting pitcher Kane Rogers. Rogers surrendered only five hits and two earned runs in his 2 2/3 innings, but Ottawa scored seven unearned runs during that time.
The second game saw improvement for the Indians, but not enough to earn a victory.
Iola jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning and led 3-1 in the second, but costly errors again reared their head
Iola committed six errors in the nightcap; seven different players committed an error during the doubleheader.
Daylon Splane was the top offensive performer for Post 15 in the loss. He went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
Splane is hitting .429 in American Legion play and has a .500 on-base percentage to go with a team-high 18 runs.
