Indians down Ottawa, go to 10-0

The Iola American Legion Post 15 AA Indians kept their undefeated streak intact Tuesday with a doubleheader sweep of visiting Ottawa.
The Indians defeated Ottawa 2-1 in the second game and 6-4 in the nightcap.
The wins lift Iola’s record to 10-0 on the season. Statistics from the game will be in Thursday’s Register.
The victories set up a busy week for the Indians, who travel to  Wellsville for a doubleheader Thursday before opening the Allen Community College Red Devil Classic, a round-robin tournament featuring baseball teams from across eastern Kansas.
The Indians host Louisburg’s American Legion squad at 10 a.m. Friday at the Allen baseball diamond. At 12:30 p.m., Humboldt’s 19-and-under Babe Ruth team will take on the NLB (Next Level Baseball) 17’s, an academy team from the Kansas City area.
Girard’s American Legion team takes on the NLB 18’s, another Kansas City academy squad, at 3 p.m.

HUMBOLDT HAS the first game of the day Saturday at 10 a.m. against Girard. Iola takes the field at 12:30 p.m. against the NLB 18’s. Louisburg takes on the NLB 17’s at 3 o’clock.

SUNDAY’S SLATE features Girard against the NLB 17’s at 10 a.m., Louisburg against the NLB 18’s at 12:30 and Iola against Humboldt at 3 o’clock.
