Indians claim double victories

The Iola Indians AA Legion team defeated Montgomery County 6-3 and 10-4 on Tuesday night.

The Iola Indians AA Legion won both games against Montgomery County Tuesday night in Riverside Park. 

The Indians won Game 1, 6-3, and Game 2, 10-4.

Game 1 was a thriller, as the Indians battled to break a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the sixth when TJ Taylor singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run. 

Brayden Cole pitched the Indians to victory. The right-handed pitcher went seven innings, allowing three runs on two hits, striking out nine and walking zero.

The Indians had a total of 10 hits in the game. Cole and Ryker Curry each collected multiple hits for the Indians. Cole went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Indians in hits.

In Game 2, the Indians scored six runs in the third inning, to ease their way to a 10-4 victory.

TJ Taylor, Drake DeLaTorre, Cooper Riley and Nathan Louk each collected RBIs in the third inning. Taylor singled, and scored one run. DeLaTorre doubled, and scored two runs. Riley singled, and scored one run. And Louk singled, bringing in a runner.

Aiden Jones led the Indians to victory on the mound. Jones allowed five hits and four runs over five innings, striking out three and walking zero.

DeLaTorre led the Indians with two hits in two at bats. The Indians were sure-handed in the field and did not commit a single error. Riley had the most chances in the field with four.
