The Iola Middle School girls basketball teams won two of three games against Anderson County in their home season opener Thursday night.
The eighth grade Mustangs fell to Anderson County, 31-9.
Iola fell behind 10-2 after the first quarter and couldn’t find a way back into the game. They were down 22-5 at halftime.
Kinsley Fountain scored a team-high three points while Haidyn Desmarteau, Carlee Hummingbird and Cam Wille each had two points.
Iola’s seventh grade A team came out on top over Anderson County, 20-7.
The Mustangs only allowed Anderson County to score one point in the first half, taking a 12-1 lead into halftime.
Kinzley Fountain and Haidyn Desmarteau each scored a team-high five points, while Kashyn Curry scored four points. Kailyn Rodriguez, Eliana Higginbotham and Hannah Thompson each had two points.
The Mustangs’ seventh grade B team also emerged victorious, knocking off Anderson County, 20-6.
Aaliyah Rhodes notched a team-high six points while Higginbotham and Ke’aunna Boswell-Willard each had four points. Jayna Ivy, Maicy Winner and Thompson each scored two points.
Iola hosts Wellsville on Monday at 4 p.m.
