IMS stacks up with Wellsville Monday

Iola's Middle School girls basketball teams hosted Wellsville to town Monday. The Mustang seventh grade A team came out victorious while the eighth grade and seventh grade B team lost.

Iola’s seventh grade A girls basketball team came out on top against Wellsville, 22-11, at home Monday, while the eighth grade team lost, 44-5, as did the seventh grade B team, 14-4.

Eighth grade

Iola’s eighth-graders had a tough go at it.

By halftime, the Wellsville Eagles were ahead 26-5 and were able to shut out the Mustangs in the second half

Carlee Hummingbird and Haidyn Demarteau each scored two points while Breighlynn Rutherford added a free throw. 

Seventh grade A 

The Mustangs defeated Wellsville, 22-11. 

Haidyn Desmarteau scored a team-high 13 points while Rutherford added five. Kinsley Fountain and Kailyn Rodriguez each scored two points.

Seventh Grade B 

Iola lost to Wellsville, 14-4. 

Bayleigh Scheibmeier and Ailyah Rhodes each scored two points in each of the first two quarters. 

Iola faces Santa Fe Trail in Carbondale next Monday at 4 p.m.
