In Saturday’s Iola Middle School’s seventh-grade Pony Stampede, Iola’s seventh-grade B-team finished fourth in its division.
The Ponies lost 25-24 to Independence in the opening round. Rhett Allen led the way with seven points followed by Zane Beasley with six points, Colton Toney with five, Nate Evans with four and Xavier Cary with two.
Chanute’s Royster Middle School’s Rockets beat Iola 27-18 in the third-place game.
Beasley had 13 points for the Ponies. Toney and Evans each had two points. Mason Ingle added one.
“These kids worked hard all day,” said Marty Taylor, IMS head coach.
