Iola Middle School began the 2012 track season at home Tuesday hosting a five-team meet at Riverside Park.
Winning three of the four divisions, the Pony teams got off to a good start.
Iola dominated the seventh-grade boys’ division and eighth-grade girls’ division. Uniontown edged out Humboldt 64 points to 63 points for the eighth-grade boys’ championship.
The Pony boys piled up 109 points to win the seventh-grade title with Uniontown in second with 38 points, Humboldt in 28 points and Marmaton Valley with 15 points. Iola’s girls rolled up 85 points for the win in the eighth-grade division with Pleasanton in second with 22 points. Uniontown was third with 12 points followed by Marmaton Valley with nine points and Humboldt with two points.
Iola’s seventh-grade girls chalked up a team victory also wiht 56 points. Uniontown was a close second with 52 points followed by Marmaton Valley with 42 points, Humboldt with 35. Pleasanton did not score in either seventh-grade division.
Iola’s eighth-grade boys were third with 40 points. Marmaton Valley was fourth with 30 points and Pleasanton had 16 points.
