CARBONDALE — A hectic conclusion to the middle school volleyball season is nearly complete for Iola Middle School.
Amid the cluster of action were Monday’s road matches at Santa Fe Trail.
Iola’s eighth-grade A team dropped three sets to the Chargers, 25-22, 25-11 and 25-16.
Bella Rahming’s play at the net led Iola with four kills. She also had an ace. Aurianna Werner added four set assists to go with two kills. Kandrella McCullough had two aces and one assist. India Barney had a kill and an ace. Lily Lohman had three aces, one kill, and an assist.
Madison Hall had an ace, an assist and one kill.
The eighth-grade B team dropped four sets, 25-23, 25-18, 25-20 and 25-11.
Lohman led with six kills. Carly Kramer and Faith Warden both had four ace serves. Warden also had two kills; Kramer one.
Rahming chipped in with a pair of kills. Madelyn Ashworth and Marlee Westhoff each had one ace serve. Stephanie Fees had a pair of assists.
MEANWHILE, Iola Middle School’s seventh-grade volleyball teams were in Burlington Thursday.
The A team won the first set, 25-19, but dropped the next three, 25-15, 25-23 and 25-19.
Dally Curry led with six aces, followed by Kinsey Jelinek and Sheridan Byrd with five apiece, Emma Michael with three, Zoie Hesse and Abigail Jerome with two aces each and Brooklyn Holloway with one.
Curry and Byrd did a nice job manning the net, head coach Aubrey Westhoff said.
“It really came down to the little things in those last two sets, not finishing each play and getting down on ourselves,” Westhoff said. “If we fix those things the girls will have a great end to their season.”
Byrd had three kills followed by Curry and Jerome with one each.
“Our setters did an amazing job setting up their teammates,” Westhoff said. “As a whole, they talked and moved the best they have all season.”
