INDEPENDENCE — Iola Middle School’s golfers competed in a tournament at Independence Country Club Monday.
Colby Works led the Ponies, shooting a 51 and placing 11th, one stroke out of the medals. Garrett Wade carded a 52 and Mason Key shot a 57. Taylor Sell came in with a 61 for the team’s total of 221 which placed Iola in fifth in the eight-team field.
Toni Macha finished with a 63. Mac Simpson shot a 67.
There was no girls’ division.
Coffeyville won the tournament with 187. Troy Watson of Caney Valley was the top medalist with a 36.
Iola goes to Jayhawk-Linn Monday.
The IMS Invitational will be made up on April 30 at Allen County Country Club.
