IMS eighth-graders take second place

PARSONS — Iola Middle School’s girl’s basketball made it to the championship round in the Parsons Eighth Grade Winter Classic Saturday, but fell in a tough loss to Chanute.
“The girls played so hard today,” coach Marty Taylor said. “A few things didn’t go our way in the championship game, but the effort was great.”
In the first round of the tournament, Iola beat Pittsburg, 28-11. Madisyn Holloway scored 14 points and grabbed three rebounds. Piper Moore scored eight points and took down a team-high seven rebounds. Mia Aronson scored six points and grabbed four rebounds.
Iola lost to Chanute, 34-19. Moore scored 11 points and had six rebounds. Holloway scored six points and grabbed three rebounds. Aronson scored a basket.
