IHS JV wrestlers compete

FORT SCOTT — Iola High’s junior varsity wrestlers competed in Saturday’s Fort Scott High junior varsity tournament.
Bryce Misenhelter captured first place in his weight bracket. The freshman pinned all five of his opponents — McCarthy of Fort Scott, Christman of Frontenac, Ball of Spring Hill, Hadle of Paola and Herman of Jayhawk-Linn.
Sophomore Chase Roettgen took first with a perfect run through his weight bracket. He also pinned all of his opponents — Haggerty of Paola, Imel of Spring Hill and Benton of Paola.
Travis Rieske, a freshman, placed first, going 2-1, in his weight class. He lost to Bryant Spring Hill by a fall then defeated Gatton of Labette County 9-7 and pinned Null of Independence.
Freshman Tristan Sigfusson was second in his weight bracket. He was pinned by Loving of Paola and he pinned Gazaway of Fort Scott.
Freshman Cody Conner lost his matches in his weight class. He was pinned by Kastl of Fort Scott, Duncan of Spring Hill and Gray of Paola.
“These guys showed much improvement since the last time they wrestled,” said Ron Schomaker, IHS wrestling head coach. “Most had a really good day.”
