FORT SCOTT — Tyler Powelson ran away from the field in the 1600-meter run at last Tuesday’s Fort Scott High JV Invitational. Powelson won the race in 5 minutes.
The Mustangs and Fillies competed in a storm-shortened meet that night.
Michael Wilson claimed the gold in the pole vault, clearing 10 feet. Justin Baker was fourth at 9 feet and Jacob Rhoads placed fifth at 8’6”.
Rhoads placed second in the javelin with a throw of 139’11”. Stephen McDonald was second in the high jump at 5’4” with Adam Kauth taking fourth at 5’2”.
Tyler McIntosh earned the bronze medal in the triple jump at 35’9”. He was fifth in the long jump with a leap of 16’4”.
Kauth captured silver medals in the hurdle races. He ran the 110-meter high hurdles in 17.9 seconds and went 46.9 in the 300-meter intermediates.
Wilson combined with McIntosh, Fryendz Wallace and Rhoads to place second in the 4×100-meter relay in 49.1 seconds. The 4×800-meter relay team of Jacob Cooper, Josh Klubek, Jason Tidd and Arion Kunkler was third in 10 minutes, 28.8 seconds.
Jacob Harrison was third in the 400-meter dash in 58.5 seconds and Wallace was fourth in 58.9. In the 100-meter dash, Wallace was third at 12.8 seconds followed by Wilson in fifth at 12.7 and Baker in sixth at 12.7.
For the Fillies, Darci Collins took the bronze medal in the shot put with a throw of 29’3”.
Alexis Hobbs was third in the javelin with a distance of 69’7” and took fourth in the high jump at 3’8”.
At Thursday’s track meet in Osawatomie several junior varsity races were run. The Mustangs placed in four races.
Jeremy Spears won the junior varsity 1600-meter run in 5:23.
The 4×100-meter relay team of Wilson, A. Kauth, Wallace and J. Baker was second in 49.7 seconds. McIntosh, J. Baker, Wallace and Rhoads combined for third in the 4×200-meter relay in 1:41.1.
The team of A. Kauth, Dylan Lower, J. Baker and Levi Baker turned in a time of 3:56.1 for fourth in the 4×400-meter relay race. Taking fifth in 3:58.3 was the team of Wallace, Rhoads, Powelson and McIntosh.
