Iola High’s softball team split a home doubleheader against Osawatomie, winning the opener, 22-7, and falling 8-2 in the nightcap.
Every Iola player scored at least twice in the first game.
Baylea Thompson had a single, as did Lexi Heslop. Baleigh Seeber drilled a triple to end the game. Breckin Collins singled.
Torrie Lewis scored three times, as did Emily McKarnin. Shelby Smith scored twice, Thompson had three runs, as did Heslop. Seeber, Taylor Sell, Collins and Tori Smith all scored twice.
Thompson went the distance on the mound in game one, giving up five hits. She struck out six.
Offense was harder to come by in the second game. Heslop had a fourth-inning single and Smith a first-inning single for the Fillies’ only hits.
Emily McKarnin took the loss. She gave up five hits in four innings. She struck out seven and walked seven.
The Fillies JV are at Independence Thursday.
