FORT SCOTT — Iola High’s freshman girls played their best game of the season in their final game of the season.
Iola High’s freshman boys won their final game of the season in Friday’s final round of the Fort Scott High Freshman Tournament.
The freshman Fillies lost 34-25 to tournament host Fort Scott Friday. Libby Shay fired in 11 points and Alexa Fawson had 10. Breanna Stout scored four.
“It was the best of the year for our girls,” said Pat Lonergan, IHS assistant girls’ coach. “We played them closer than the two previous times we played this year.”
The Mustang team of freshmen and a couple sophomores beat Jayhawk-Linn 64-49 led by Levi Ashmore with 19 points and Mason Coons with 14.
Tyler Clubine added eight and Eric Heffern had seven points. Eli Grover scored four.
Scoring two points each were Garrett Catron, Jarret Mosbrucker, Aaron Barclay and Jacob Harrison.
