Doug Kerr, Iola High’s new head football coach, has been pleased with the work of players in the summer weight lifting and conditioning program. Kerr arrived in Iola at the beginning of June and has got the Mustangs working.
“We’re happy with the turn out. Those kids who haven’t been there we know where they are. Some are at camps or other commitments,” Kerr said.
On July 9, Kerr and his coaching staff will open the IHS football camp. The camp is a weeklong event for $10.
“The seniors, juniors and sophomores report on Monday at 7 a.m. at the high school. We’re taking the varsity kids off-campus for the an overnight team event,” Kerr said.
“Then we come back to Iola and get busy. The freshmen join us on Wednesday evening.”
The camp from Wednesday through Friday is 6-9 p.m. at the football practice field at Riverside Park.
