HUMBOLDT — Humboldt High senior Drew Wilhite has been a standout in multiple sports, most notably for his running and jumping abilities in cross country and track and field.

He’ll take his talents to Pittsburg State University in the fall, after signing a letter of intent Friday to compete in track and field at PSU.

Wilhite has been an all-league and all-state runner in both cross country and track.

“He has been an integral component of our team and has been a leader for us since his freshman year,” HHS track and cross country head coach Eric Carlson said in an email.

Wilhite has essentially rewritten the cross country record books at Humboldt, and was league cross country champion for three straight years.

He qualified for state track and won multiple league and regional titles in track and field, capped by a runner-up finish at the 2021 state track meet in the 800-meter run.

Wilhite said he plans to compete in multiple events for the Gorillas.

He is the son of Jon and Loni Wilhite.
