LAWRENCE — Humboldt senior cross country runner Peyton Wallace raced in his final high school meet at the 3A state meet in Lawrence on Saturday.
Wallace finished the 5k race in 80th place with a time of 19:21, good for his course personal record by a minute.
The field consisted of 103 runners.
“I am very proud of the season Peyton had. He peaked at the right moment this year, running a PR at league, and running his fastest time ever on the Rim Rock course,” said Humboldt head coach Eric Carlson.
The top three team finishes belong to Wichita-Trinity’s first place finish, Southeast High of Salina’s second place finish and Hiawatha in third place. West Franklin came in fourth and Girard crossed the finish line in fifth as a team.
Wichita Trinity had a pair of runners take the top two places with Clay Shively’s 15:26.02 first place time and Jacob Hobson’s second place time of 15:41.3. Wichita Collegiate then had the third and fourth place runners in CJ Meyer’s 15:56.1 time and Will Meyer’s 16:04.5 time.
