Humboldt’s Daniels signs to Neosho

“Cheering has always been a safe place for me,” Humboldt High senior and Neosho cheer commit Chloe Daniels said. “I could be having a chaotic day, I go to cheer and everything just disappears. It’s my safe place and it’s where I’m able to let go of all my worries and live in the moment.”

HUMBOLDT — Humboldt High senior cheerleader Chloe Daniels signed her national letter of intent to cheer at Neosho Community College in the fall.

Daniels, a lifelong dancer, has been with the Humboldt cheer team since she was in middle school.

The sport means more than supporting the local teams, she said.

“Cheering has always been a safe place for me,” Daniels said. “I could be having a chaotic day, I go to cheer and everything just disappears. It’s my safe place and it’s where I’m able to let go of all my worries and live in the moment.”

The Lady Cubs cheer team has meant an indescribable amount to the senior and has helped her become a better person as well, she said

“My favorite part about cheering is being in the atmosphere at game days and meeting new teammates every year and forming bonds with them,” said Daniels. “Definitely game day, getting the crowd involved and being there every step of the way, experiencing it all.”

Daniels will miss the raucous atmosphere and has a tinge of sadness as her high school career comes to an end.

She will focus on everything from leadership to cheer routines in college in the fall, and is most excited to get to work under Neosho’s head coach Chelsea Jackson and meet a new group of cheerleaders.

“Neosho is a great fit for me because the team really feels like a family and Coach Jackson has always been a great leader,” Daniels said. “She wants her athletes to succeed so going to Neosho I feel like I’m going to be able to grow as both an athlete and a person.”

Daniels is grateful to see her dream come to fruition. She knows her 5-year old dancing self would be proud of how far she’s come with her cheering.

“It’s very exciting, it’s something I’ve wanted to do ever since I was a little girl,” said Daniels. “I grew up dancing and when I got to high school I started cheering and I realized I had a passion for it. It’s something I wanted to continue in college.”
