HUMBOLDT — Humboldt High’s Emma Carson will continue her softball career next season at Fort Scott Community College.

The senior third baseman praised the school’s family atmosphere, noting her older sister, Kylee, also attended Fort Scott.

“It felt right,” she said.

Carson’s plans were to attend Fort Scott all along in order to study cosmetology.

She still plans on doing that, but earning an athletic scholarship will extend her schooling a bit.

Carson plans to earn her associates degree over her two-year softball career, then enter the school of cosmetology for year three.

“And I can do it all in one place,” she laughed.

Carson’s steady defense at third base is one of the key factors in Humboldt’s 8-2 season this year under head coach Brad Piley.

The Lady Cubs are riding an eight-game winning streak.

Carson is hitting .267 for Humboldt. She also has suited up as catcher this season.
