EUREKA — Humboldt High’s Raquel Hill posted a first-place time of 6 minutes, 29 seconds in the 1600-meter run Thursday at the Eureka High Invitational track meet.
Humboldt and Yates Center athletes competed in the meet. There were 11 teams in the meet.
Hill also took the silver medal in the girls’ 3200-meter run in 13:40. Whitney Strack was sixth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 57.3 seconds.

Steinforth and Cherokee Shafer went second and fourth in the 400-meter dash. Steinforth’s time was 68.4 seconds followed by Shafer at 70.1 seconds.
Shafer had a personal-best jump of 4 feet, 8 inches to claim second in the high jump.
Brae Adams was the silver medalist in the girls’ discus with a throw of 116’4”.
“For small squads, our boys’ and girls’ teams score well,” said Dan Berg, Yates Center head coach. “We had personal bests by a lot of our kids.”
Yates Center’s boys also posted personal-best performances and earned points.
Donnie Bennett won the long jump with a leap of 19’6” with teammate Dylan Sicka in sixth at 18’3”.
Sicka captured gold on the track in the 1600-meter run. His winning time was 4:54.1. Humboldt’s Jarred Barr took sixth in the 1600-meters in 5:15.
Sicka placed third in the 800-meter run in 2:02 while Barr was fifth in 2:18.
Bennett placed fourth in the 100-meter high hurdles in 15.7 seconds. He was sixth in the high jump with a personal-best clearance of 5’8”.
Humboldt’s Jackson Smith ran fifth in the 400-meter dash in 58.1 seconds. Nick Miller was sixth in the 100-meter dash for Humboldt in 11.85 seconds.
Humboldt’s 4×400-meter relay team of Miller, Smith, Hayden Boring and Barr posted a fifth-place finish in 3:59.
