NEODESHA — Humboldt High is winding up the 2021 season on a high note.
The Lady Cub volleyball team went 5-1 Saturday to take second place at the Neodesha Invitational.
Humboldt lost only two sets throughout the tournament.
Unfortunately, both came in a hard-fought, three-set loss to host Neodesha, 25-22, 21-25 and 25-13.
“I was proud of the girls for playing hard all day,” head coach Terry Meadows said. “We had some ups and downs with Neodesha, but overall, they worked really hard.”
In other matches, Humboldt swept past Caney Valley, 25-10 and 25-11, Southeast-Cherokee, 25-14 and 25-11, Parsons, 25-11 and 25-20, Baxter Springs, 25-22 and 25-22, and Erie, 25-14 and 25-11.
Nautianna Goforth led Humboldt with 38 kills on the day and five blocks. She also had 33 digs and four aces.
Kirstyn Murrow had 26 kills, 10 aces, a block and 12 digs.
Shelby Shaughnessy had 13 aces, 18 kills, four blocks and 20 digs.
Karley Wools had seven aces, 11 kills, three blocks, five set assists and 58 digs.
Kenisyn Hottenstein had 110 set assists, 23 digs, seven aces, a block and three kills.
Brooklyn Ellis also served up seven aces to go with 52 digs and a kill.
Chanlynn Wrestler chipped in with two aces and a dig.
Kirsten Kobold had 12 kills, nine digs and a block.
Kinley Tucker had nine digs.
