HUMBOLDT — The 2013 season at Humboldt Speedway is in the record books.
Congratulations to newly crowned points champions: Derrek Wilson in Pure Stock, Jimmie Davis in B-Mods, Jeremy Wilson in Factory Stock and Ryan McAninish in USRA Modifieds.
The season was capped with a special 30-lap USRA Modifieds main event, where every lap had its own sponsor, and the driver who led that lap received $25. If a driver led all 30 laps, the prize was $750.
Paden Phillips led the most laps, but succumbed to mechanical issues in the end. Jess Folk Jr. led with the second-most laps, but finished third. John Allen led the third-most laps, but, led the most important lap of all, the last one.
Final finish: Allen, McAninish, Folk, Travis Smith and Josh Everhart, composing the top five of 22 cars.
B-Mod was the only points champion contest up for grabs, and the night began with Jeremy Chambers in the lead. Chambers, however, wasn’t at the speedway, because he  was competing elsewhere in a national event. Instead, Jimmie Davis was able to make up the deficit, and become B-Mod points champ for the second year in a row.
In the final feature event of the year, the top five were: Tim VanGotten, Ethan Issacs, Davis, Dakota Foster, and Andy Bryant.
Jared Hayden crossed the checkered flag first in the Pure Stock feature, but was disqualified in a post-race inspection for his car being too light. The same fate fell upon Donald McIntosh, who had finished in third. Thus the official top 5: Derrek Wilson, Scott Collins, Levi Phillips, Wayne Johnson and Mike Churning.
A dramatic late race pass boosted Gary Langworthy Jr. into the Factory Stock feature winner’s circle, ahead of Scott Stuart. David Matlock was third, Jeremy Wilson fourth and Trever Vann fifth.
Yet another novelty for the last race of the season; drivers with the most heat race passing points competed in a six-lap dash “Dash for Cash” for each class. Jared Hayden won $50 in Pure Stock, Ethan Issacs $5 in B-Mod, Jeremy Wilson $50 in Factory Stock and McAninish won $100 in USRA Modifieds.
The season concluded with the annual Powder Puff races. In Pure Stock, Paige Kidwell was the winner. Jessica Marvin won the combined B-Mod/Factory Stock race, and Courtney Letterman topped the Modified field.
