CHERRYVALE — Humboldt’s Logan Page sank a buzzer-beater three to seal a 64-62 victory against Cherryvale on Tuesday evening.
The win propelled the Cubs (17-3) to a Tri-Valley League regular season championship title.
The Lady Cubs (8-12) weren’t as fortunate as their defense sputtered and allowed Cherryvale to have their way offensively in a 62-32 loss.

Judging by each quarter’s scores, it appeared Cherryvale would come out on top. But a crucial fourth-quarter surge helped propel the Cubs into the win column.
In the first quarter, Humboldt’s Sam Hull banked in five layups for 10 points while Cook posted a layup and a pair of free throws.
The Chargers were led by Stetson Schafer’s pair of layups and three-point knockdown while Trevin Elam also netted seven points in the opening quarter. Humboldt trailed Cherryvale at the end of the first quarter, 19-16.
Cherryvale’s Brock Robertson scored eight points in the second to take a five-point lead. Jacob Harrington and Cook each scored three points in the second for Humboldt but it wasn’t enough to keep up.
Humboldt trailed Cherryvale at halftime, 31-26.
Cook helped the Cubs make it a neck and neck game again when he posted a couple of layups as well as a three-pointer in the third quarter. Sommer also scored six points to make it a one-point game. Robertson hit a three and a layup for Cherryvale.
The Cubs trailed the Chargers heading to the fourth, 42-41.
Humboldt’s Logan Page woke up in the fourth quarter scoring nine points, including his game-winning three-point basket. Asher Hart also added on five to help Humboldt keep the lead within striking distance.
Hull led the Cubs’ offense with 16 points while Cook and Sommer each added 14 points. Page finished his night with nine points in the fourth quarter.
