EUREKA — The Humboldt Middle School basketball program traveled to Eureka on Monday in its final game of the 2015 calendar year.
The Cubs’ A team lost, 48-16.
Gunner Elder led the team with 6 points.
Jackson Aikens was just behind with 5 points while also adding 2 rebounds.
Conor Haviland and Cooper Jaro rounded out Humboldt’s scoring with 3 and 2 points, respectively.
Haviland also added 6 rebounds while Jaro added 2.
“We were great for one quarter and struggled in the other three,” Humboldt coach Jeremy Weilert said. “Eureka is a very good middle school basketball team.”
With the loss, the A team fell to 1-3 on the season.
The Cubs’ B team lost, 27-23.
Drake Harrington recorded a team-high 9 points and 3 steals.
Drew Schoendaller had 7 points and a team-high 5 rebounds.
Drake Sellman finished the game with 5 points and 4 rebounds, and Jacob Grzybowski had 2 points and 3 rebounds.
The B team played a tight game against Eureka, but the defeat still drops the team to 0-4 on the year.
The Cubs’ C team won 4-3 in its one-quarter contest.
Tanner Church and Stanley Todd each had 2 points while Todd also added 3 rebounds.
Thane Meadows didn’t have any points in the game, but he did record 3 rebounds.
Humboldt Middle School’s next game will come after the school’s winter break on Jan. 4 against Fredonia at home.
