HUMBOLDT — Humboldt Middle School hosted 18 schools at a track and field meet on Friday.
Of its 38 athletes participating, 13 Cubs won first place in their respective events while 17 took second or third place in events.
There were six other local middle schools competing in Iola, Anderson County, Cherryvale, Neodesha, Yates Center and Altoona-Midway.
Girls
Three Humboldt girls relay teams earned second place in their respective races. Bailey Daniels, Jordan Hencey, Adalyn Hillmon and Maggie McCullough formed the 4×100 meter relay team that took second place with a time of 1 minute and 3.2 seconds.
The Humboldt 4×100 meter relay team of Lakyn Meadows, Harlowe Rush, Jo Ellison and Carlie Weilert finished in fifth place at 01:01.06.
The 4×200 meter relay team of Willow LaCrone, McCullough, Hencey and Hillmon finished in second place with a time of 02:22.09.
The 4×200 meter relay team of Ella Schomaker, Meadows, Rush and Ellison came in second place in another race with a time of 02:13.09.
Bailey Daniels came in fifth place in the 100 meter dash at 16.81 seconds; third in the 200 meter dash at 33.83 seconds and first in the high jump.
Alexa Ellis placed 15th in the 100 meter dash in 16.81 seconds, first place in the 3200 meter run in 17:53.9 and 12th place in the 400 meter dash in 01:31.8.
Jo Ellison finished in first place in the 3200 meter run in 17:13.9 while coming in sixth place in the high jump.
Maleah Gordon finished in 22nd place in the discus with a throw of 38 feet, 11 inches, 12th place in the shot put at 24’ 3” and sixth place in the turbo javelin at 49’ 11.5.
Jordan Hencey came in 16th place in the 100 meter dash at 18.05 seconds and second place in the pole vault.
Adalyn Hillmon came in first place in the pole vault and sixth place in the turbo javelin at 45’ 0.5”.
Briston Krone placed 10th in the discus at 52’ 3” and 13th in the shot put at 23’ 6” while finishing in 16th place in the turbo javelin at 40’ 1”.
