Humboldt High thinclads compete in meets

Humboldt High’s Nick Keazer ran a personal-best time of 51.78 seconds to win the boys’ 400-meter dash at the Fredonia Relays, April 20. He was fifth in the 200-meter dash in 24.56.

Keazer combined with Ethan Bartlett, Hayden Boring and Blake Crawford to take fourth in the 4×800-meter relay in 9 minutes, 31 seconds.

Tanner McNutt competed in the KU Relays April 20-21 in Lawrence. He ran 51.37 in the 400-meter dash preliminaries, missing the finals by .07.

McNutt jarred his back on his first attempt in the triple jump and finished 29th with a leap of 39 feet, 4 inches. He was 25th in the high school long jump at 19’8”.

Last Tuesday, the Humboldt High track teams were at Burlington.

Ethan Bartlett had a personal-best time of 55.37 seconds to take fourth in the 400 meters. Layne Gonzalez was fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles in 22.49 seconds.

Jordan Irey placed fourth in the javelin with a personal record throw of 126’7”. That was an increase of 17 feet for Irey.

Irey combined with Logan Yokum, Kendall West and Rayden Goltry for sixth in the 4×100-meter relay race in 54.78 seconds. The Cubs’ 4×800-meter relay team of Crawford, Andrew Keazer, Yokum and Goltry was fifth in 10:12.

The Lady Cubs’ Shayli Ellis brought home three bronze medals. She was  third in the 100-meter dash in 14.28 seconds, third in the 200-meter dash in 30.22 seconds and third in the 100-meter high hurdles in 18.47 seconds.

Ellis placed fourth in the long jump, pushing her personal-best distance out by four inches to 14’6”. Kolbyn Allen was sixth in the 800-meter run in 2:57.
