OSAGE CITY — Humboldt High’s cross country team is peaking at the right time.
The Cubs had three medalists on the day, each of whom set either a season’s or personal best time at Thursday’s Osage City Invitational.
“This was a great meet, and a great day to run,” Humboldt head coach Eric Carlson said. “It was great to see our kids run well.”
On the girls’ side, McKenna Jones took home sixth place in the 5K run at 22 minutes, 22 seconds. It was both a personal best for Jones, and a new meet record for Humboldt runners.
Anna Heisler took home the 14th place medal, with a personal record time of 23:34.
The Lady Cubs missed out on taking third place as a team by two points.
Meanwhile, senior standout Drew Wilhite is rounding into form nicely for the Humboldt boys. He ran a blistering 17:13 to take third, a season’s best time.
Meanwhile, Peyton Wallace set a personal mark in finishing 26th at 19:09. Brigg Shannon’s 22:17 also was a personal best.
Next up for Humboldt is the Tri-Valley League meet Thursday at Caney.
