NEODESHA — Humboldt Middle School’s volleyball teams opened the 2021 season with matches Thursday at Neodesha.
The Lady Cubs B team prevailed, while the A and C teams fell short.
“All teams played excellent volleyball,” head coach Darcie Croisant said. “Neodesha was a tough competitor.”
In A team action, Neodesha prevailed 25-27 and 25-21.
Skylar Hottenstein and Grace Reno each had three aces. Teghen Jaro and Hottenstein also had multiple assists, while Reno, Laney Hull, Hottenstein and Jaro all registered kills.
“This team played very well for their first match of the season,” Croisant said. “I saw great movement and wonderful volleyball tonight. I look forward to us learning from this loss and improving our skills.”
Humboldt’s B team won in straight sets, 25-20 and 25-18.
Tae Baylor led with nine aces. Baylor, Lakyn Meadows and Kamry DeLaTorre each had an assist. Carman and meadows had kills.
“For this being the first year for these ladies on this team to play middle school volleyball, they all did very well,” Croisant said. “
The C team played a pair of matches, falling 25-14 and 25-18 in the first match and 25-22 and 25-22 in the second.
Liz Romine, Ella Schomaker and Morgan Dillow all had four aces.
“The team worked very well together,” Croisant said.
