HUMBOLDT — It’s not ideal playing the same team twice in five days, Humboldt Middle School boys basketball coach Jeremy Weilert admitted.

But his Cubs had little problem with it.

Humboldt jumped in front of visiting Galesburg in the first quarter and never looked back in a 38-19 victory.

“The players handled it well,” Weilert said of the early rematch.

Logan Page led the way with 11 points, including 7 of 7 free throws, with three steals and two assists. Jacob Harrington added nine points with four rebounds. Asher Hart also had four rebounds. Colden Cook and Blake Ellis each had two steals. Page, Cook and Ellis each had two assists.

Cook also notched seven points. Conner Sallee scored four, Ellis and Kyler Isbell three apiece and Hart had one.

Humboldt’s B teams also stayed perfect on the season with a  26-19 victory.

“It was a great effort tonight,” Weilert said.

Sallee scored a team-high 12 points and three steals followed by Braxton Gray with eight and Mason Sterling with four points, eight rebounds and three steals.
