The Humboldt Middle School boys and girls wrapped up their season with a win and some losses on Tuesday at home versus Galesburg.
The game was rescheduled from Jan. 11.
The Lady Cubs A-Team was the lone winner, beating Galesburg 16-12.
“The ladies had their best night defensively of the year,” Jason Weilert said. “They were very active stopping the dribble-drive and gave good help on screens. I was very pleased with how we performed. We showed a big improvement from the first of the year to the end of the year. The girls did a very good job.”
Madi White led the way with seven points and Karley Wools scored four points. Nautianna Goforth had five rebounds, Kirstyn Murrow had three steals and Brooklyn Ellis had two blocks.
The girls’ B-Team lost 26-11.
“We were able to get plenty of wide open shots but were unable to find the bottom of the basket,” Weilert said. “The girls came up short but continued to improve throughout the year.
Kaitlynn Barnhart had four points and Taylor Korte had three points. Laken Hunter had six rebounds and Raegen Trester had five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, the boys fell short in their three games.
Eighth-graders lost 38-9.
Drew Wilhite had five points and a steal and Ethan Doepke had three points and two rebounds. Evan Lucke had a point.
“I thought we played good at times, but we just weren’t able to sustain it,” head coach Jeremy Weilert said.
The B-Team lost 35-27.
“We were short-handed tonight and had to have a couple of 8th graders play with the  7th graders tonight,” Weilert said. “We trailed by 11 going into the 4th quarter.   We were able to cut the deficit to 5 with less than 2 minutes on the clock.  That was as close as we could get it.”
Trey Sommer had 13 points and five rebounds and Maddox Johnson had 10 points and four rebounds. Zach Draper had three points and Colton Slocum had a point.
The C-Team lost 39-15.
Chris Gonzalez had eight points and 12 rebounds and  Hunter Bauer had three points and two steals. Zach Draper and Cooper Woods had two points. Woods also had three steals.
The high school Cubs will hit the court again on Friday when they host Fredonia.
